Mike Calvino is raising money to open source the plans of this awesome CNC machine. Watch the video – it’d be a truly impressive open hardware device, which goes way beyond the usual toys which unfortunately are also those which get the most coverage at the moment.

Chaos Singularity 2011 – Call For Participation (CfP)

Dear data voyagers, hackers and geeks,
the CoSin is the annual congress of the swiss chaos and takes place for the sixth time this year.
From June the 24th to 26th 2011 chaos compatible people meet in the Villa Ritter in Biel, to hack together, share experience, have fun and meet other people.
To make the CoSin interesting for many people we are looking for contributions like talks, workshops, screenings, discussions and non-commercial informations desks.
Along the lines of the congress of the CCC e.V. we appreciate contributions for technical and technology-related topics in the categories hacking, science, society, making, culture and community.
The Wau-Holland-Stiftung provides financial support for traveling, accommodation, and board to everybody who actively contributes to the event with a particular contribution. Simply submit your contribution via Pentabarf until the 31st of Mai.
Of course you are also welcome as a simple guest. For CHF 10 we offer you two and a half days of contents, non-alcoholic beverages and Club-Mate at cost, vegetarian lunch and dinner and local lodging.
